Why Power Engineer licensing?

In order to maintain safety standards by ensuring a consistent knowledge level in the Power Engineering field. We provide flexibility and options for the student to utilize their time and education. The license standards are provided by a national power engineering authority which is recognized throughout the United States. This will allow the successful student the ability to move about the country and exercise greater options.

Why Power Engineers?

Historically the military would take in high school graduates and teach them a vocation which met the needs of the military. The Navy would provide low pressure boiler operator training as well as high pressure process and power steam operator and mechanic training. This is changing rapidly. The military is being reduced in manpower. They are closing many of their schools. The power engineering schools are becoming a thing of the past. Many of the ships that the Navy once used are being scraped. The military has changed over to turn key combustion turbine or nuclear power submarines and ships.

The United States is going through many other changes as well:

1.   Baby Boomers are starting to retire in large numbers.

2.   Our children have been directed into college versus the trades.

3.   Qualified trades persons are at an all time low.

4.   High schools have reduced the amount of electives for students.

5.   Core high school courses leave little hope for children who can't afford college.

6.   Dropout rates for many high schools have increased at an alarming rate.

7.   The power industry is in the middle of a huge growth period and has a need for qualified employees to meet this growth.

The federal, state, and local governments are looking at requiring a minium standard of skills and education for individuals responsible for operating and maintaining all boiler systems.
